Catherine Cookson visits Twente
For the princely sum of $2, I bought a faded print in a frame from an op shop. Then, using an old calendar of Twente where my mother originally came from, but was not able to enjoy viewing its scenic images due to the fact that she herself was leafing through the last few pages of her own life, I used the print as a loose guide to incorporate fitting elements. I'd also just read an old Catherine Cookson paperback, and decided to give its cover a new lease of life too.
I completed this project quite quickly at the end of 2024, probably in December. It would have been summer as I remember cycling home balancing the frame on my bicycle. They were enjoyable experiences, both the cycle trip and the act of creation.
